Prepare the destination first
Create an intake location that will not overwrite the established master. Group a manageable batch by source or date and record its intended scope privately. Keep the source connected and unchanged until upload and retrieval checks are complete. Uploading everything at once makes a partial failure harder to explain and resume.
Observe the right result
A queued file, a progress indication and an accessible downloaded original are separate observations. Check that the destination contains the intended batch and that representative files open correctly after retrieval. Include an unusually large file and a less common format when those occur in the real collection. Do not select only the easiest small JPEG.
Handle interruption without guessing
If a transfer stops, preserve the source and compare the last accepted batch with the pending list. Do not start repeated broad imports simply because the interface is quiet. Equal filenames and existing destination contents can complicate the result. The provider’s current upload documentation is the authority for the particular app and version you are using.
A fictional batch ledger
RecordBatch A: planned 250 files; upload reported complete; retrieval sample opened; exceptions: 2. Those two exceptions remain outside acceptance even if the rest succeeded. The next batch begins only after you know whether the exceptions are source problems, unsupported previews or incomplete transfers. This ledger is your observation record, not a tool that validates files automatically. Keep another copy before considering cleanup of the original device.
Choose a batch boundary
Use a boundary you can recognize later, such as one source folder or one scan delivery. Avoid splitting a batch solely by an arbitrary file count if that makes its scope harder to explain. Preserve an accepted-versus-pending record before another transfer begins. The purpose of staging is to make an interrupted process understandable, not to create extra administrative work that nobody will maintain.
