Name the job before the service
An archive is a collection you intend to understand and use later. A gallery is a way to browse it. A backup is a copy you expect to recover after something goes wrong. One service can help with several jobs, but the labels are not interchangeable. Begin with the photos that would be hard to replace, not every image that happens to be on a phone.
Separate three roles
Our editorial framework uses a master set, working copies and sharing copies. The master is the best available source, not necessarily the largest file. Working copies can be cropped or corrected. Sharing copies can omit private information and use a convenient format. Keeping these roles clear prevents an attractive social-media download from quietly replacing a higher-quality original.
What pCloud adds—and what it does not
pCloud documents a photo gallery with a timeline, editing and a map view. Those features may make a collection easier to browse. They do not prove that an independent copy exists, that someone else can use the archive, or that every original was uploaded. Assess the underlying files separately from the screen that presents them. This publication has not tested a paid pCloud account.
A fictional starting point
A household has phone photos, a laptop folder and a disk of scans. First record those three sources privately. Select one small representative folder, copy it into a clearly named master location and make a second independent copy. Open examples from both. Only then choose how relatives will browse selected images. Keep the old sources until the collection and recovery checks are complete; this is not permission to delete them.
Your first written decision
Complete this sentence privately: the master set is located here, the independent recovery copy is here, and the sharing selection is made from this source. If one part is unknown, that is the next task. Do not begin by buying the largest plan. The framework is useful only when each role corresponds to an actual file arrangement rather than another label in the same gallery.
