Ask which changes travel
A synchronized folder can be convenient because current edits appear across devices. That same connection can propagate an unwanted change. Before treating two locations as two protective copies, understand whether deleting or overwriting one can affect the other. A copy count without an explanation of those relationships is misleading.
Independence depends on the failure
A second folder in one account may help with organization but not loss of that account. A connected disk beside the computer may not address damage to the entire location. No arrangement removes every risk. Name the failure you want to survive, then check whether the proposed recovery copy remains available under that condition.
Respect platform differences
pCloud’s current offline help distinguishes two-way desktop Sync from mobile offline files that are downloaded for app access. Broad language about seamless synchronization should not override that distinction. Before relying on offline work, check the exact platform behavior and whether the retrieved file is accessible independently of the app.
A fictional protection map
A master folder and a synchronized laptop folder share a change path. A separately maintained recovery copy may break that path, but only if it is current and readable. Label each copy with its purpose, update method and last recovery observation. Do not deliberately delete valuable files to test the arrangement; use a harmless sample and preserve the real collection.
Label the change relationship
For every linked location, record whether edits, deletions and new files travel automatically, manually or not yet known. Do not infer the answer from a product name containing backup. If the behavior matters, check a harmless sample using current platform guidance. The record should explain why a recovery copy can survive the chosen failure, rather than merely asserting that another folder exists somewhere else.
