Choose viewing or independent recovery
A travel viewing copy can be useful even if it only opens inside an app. An independent recovery copy needs to remain usable under the failure you are planning for. Decide which task you mean before marking a folder offline. Otherwise you may confidently count cached previews as an archive backup.
Read the platform distinction
pCloud documents desktop offline access throughSync and mobile offline files through the app. Its help says mobile offline edits are not automatically uploaded back. Do not generalize one platform’s behavior to another or assume that an edited local copy has become the new cloud master. Keep a clear working-copy rule.
Verify before you need it
Use a non-destructive check to confirm the selected files can be opened under the intended offline conditions. Check device capacity and include representative formats. A successful gallery view while connected may have downloaded information on demand, so it is not the same observation. Avoid removing the app or clearing its data as a test against valuable files.
A fictional travel plan
A person wants twenty selected photos available on a tablet during a visit. That small offline selection can be separate from the archive’s full independent recovery copy. Check the tablet selection for viewing, and preserve the master and backup elsewhere. On return, decide explicitly whether any edits should be uploaded; do not assume the app has merged them automatically.
Record the dependency
State whether the copy opens as an ordinary file or only within the current app. Also record the device and the scope intentionally made available. An offline selection that meets a travel need may still be unsuitable as the archive’s independent recovery copy. Keeping those roles separate lets you use convenient app features without giving them credit for protection they have not demonstrated.
