Define the information you are protecting
A household may want ordinary private storage, stronger provider-blind protection for selected files, or a simple gallery relatives can use. Those are different requirements. Do not choose an encryption option solely because a marketing page uses the strongest adjective. This publication does not audit cryptography or certify any service as unbreakable.
Check feature compatibility
For the exact protected folder and plan, check viewing, sharing, offline access, editing and export separately. A feature available in ordinary storage may not work in the protected area. Keep a small harmless sample for testing the workflow. If the required recipient task fails, do not silently move sensitive originals into less protected storage just to make the demonstration work.
Access recovery can be the trade-off
pCloud’s terms state it cannot recover a lost Crypto passphrase. That makes the household’s secure access arrangements important. Do not store secrets in a public link, an ordinary shared readme or this site’s tools. Nor should you give another person credentials contrary to account rules. Use appropriate secure arrangements and seek qualified advice where authority or inheritance is involved.
A fictional split
A household keeps a small sensitive subset under stronger protection and creates a separate, approved viewing selection for relatives. The sharing copies deliberately omit the sensitive material. This can be a useful design, but it introduces maintenance work and does not establish that the provider supports every desired feature. Confirm the actual configuration before relying on it.
Keep a feature compatibility note
For the specific protected area, record whether your required viewing, recipient access and export tasks work. Avoid copying a general feature list into this note without checking its applicability. Keep the access-secret recovery arrangement separate and secure. A configuration is not practical merely because it offers strong protection; the authorized person must also be able to use the files when the need arises.
Where the safety evidence stops
This guide draws on pCloud service terms, Icedrive encryption description. Merchant-controlled records describe the provider’s own capabilities, terms or standards; they do not independently validate those claims. These records do not establish independent confirmation of the product claims.
Verify any current price, plan limit, label direction, compatibility rule, or commercial term that would materially change the decision. The dated source ledger shows the underlying records so this conclusion can be checked and updated.
